Out Presents: Soundcheck

Presented by Out magazine, Soundcheck invites musicians to step away from the arena and play in an intimate setting, where the focus stays on the voice and the song. Directed by Keren Aronoff, each half-hour episode is built around performances by artists ranging from long-established names to newer acts, giving viewers a close-up seat for sets that feel personal rather than staged for a crowd. Featured artists include the Indigo Girls, Paula Cole, The Young Veins, Agnes and The Gay Blades, a lineup that moves easily between folk, pop and rock. Running two seasons, the series brings gay and lesbian artists and their allies together on the same small stage, and stands as a relaxed, music-first showcase and a snapshot of the pop and indie scene around 2010.
