Work in Progress

Taylor wants to discover what she is meant to do with her life, and she sets out to discover it in her own unconventional way. Quitting a dead-end retail job, she reinvents herself as a "documentarian sociologist," interviewing people about their work in search of an answer to a simple question: why do people do the jobs they do? Created, written and directed by Tay Barrett, who also stars, this six-episode Here TV comedy series is set in Los Angeles and runs about half an hour per episode. Along the way Taylor meets workers from very different walks of life — farmers, musicians, scientists, painters, professors and more — while trying to work out what she wants for herself. Phil Morris, Ross Knight, Anne Berkowitz and Carrie Wade co-star. Funny and good-natured, Work in Progress is a playful look at a young woman's search for purpose, and at the gap between dreaming about a career and actually building one.
