Wayne

Wayne is an elderly man living with senile dementia, and as the present slips away from him, his mind keeps carrying him back to the distant days of his youth. There, in the deepest corners of memory, he searches for a love he was never allowed to have — a forbidden romance with a young man named Ron. Written and directed by Mario Galarreta, this ten-minute American short stars Stuart Klitsner as Wayne and Jeremy Kahn as Ron, with Martha Stookey. Moving between Wayne's confused present and the vivid past he keeps returning to, the film treats memory loss with tenderness, suggesting that even as so much fades, the feelings a person once had to hide can remain. Quiet and bittersweet, Wayne is a moving reflection on aging, longing and a love that has outlasted almost everything else.
