Watercolors

Danny Wheeler is a successful painter, but his current relationship is under strain because he cannot let go of his first love. Years earlier in high school, the shy, closeted Danny tutored Carter Melman, a troubled swimming champion, and their friendship slowly grew into a romance that drew Danny out of his shell and opened him up to his art. Carter later took his own life, and the adult Danny still turns to painting to work through the loss. Now he has promised never to paint Carter again, and keeping that promise may be the only way to save the relationship he has. Written and directed by David Oliveras, this drama stars Tye Olson as Danny and Kyle Clare as Carter, with Karen Black, Ellie Araiza and Olympic diver Greg Louganis in supporting roles. Told largely through flashbacks, Watercolors is a tender story of first love, grief and the struggle to move forward.
