Underground

Forget the guidebook. In this Here TV travel series, host Charlie Harding arrives in a gay-friendly destination and lets local residents show him where the community really goes — the places to eat, shop, have a drink, dance and even cruise. Along the way, each visit looks at how the city became an important home for the gay and lesbian community, mixing neighborhood stops and nightlife with conversations with the people who know it best. Created by David Millbern and written and directed by Billy Clift, with Paul Colichman and Stephen P. Jarchow as executive producers, the series includes an episode set in Palm Springs, and episodes run about half an hour each. Relaxed, curious and fun, Underground works as both a practical travel guide and a portrait of the communities that make these destinations so welcoming, all seen through the eyes of a host who wants to go where the locals go.
