Things Left Unsaid

Lucía and Marta are a couple, and each of them is facing a turning point she has not shared with the other. Rather than risk the conversation, they retreat into silence, going through the motions of a shared life while everything they need to say piles up between them. Over the course of this twelve-minute Spanish short, both women are pushed to confront their private struggles and then to decide whether the future they once imagined together can still hold. Director Juan Carlos Guerra keeps the drama close and unshowy, trusting Leticia Torres and María José Castañeda to carry the weight of what goes unspoken, with Gregor Acuña, Óscar Corrales and Antonio Dechent in support. Things Left Unsaid is a small, precise film about love under pressure and the courage real intimacy demands, and about how silence can become its own kind of distance.
