The Out 100 (2008)

Every year Out Magazine names the Out 100, its list of the people who did the most to move culture forward in the previous twelve months. For the fourteenth edition, honoring the standouts of 2008, the magazine drew its inspiration from classic cinema and staged its tribute with a nod to the glamour of old Hollywood. Directed by Michael Eldridge, this Here TV special takes viewers behind the scenes of that celebration, with Out's Aaron Hicklin alongside honorees and guests including Cheyenne Jackson, Denis O'Hare, Heather Matarazzo and Taylor Mac. Part portrait gallery and part time capsule, the forty-two-minute program captures a year when gay and lesbian visibility in entertainment, the arts and public life was gaining momentum, and it gives the people on the list room to speak for themselves.
