The Exploding Boy

Alex Silvers is a lonely gay teenager in Portland, Oregon, with one consuming dream: to become the next Jim Henson. He builds puppets and stages shows because everywhere else feels hostile. His father is overbearing, school is a grind, and even the neighbors seem to be against him. Then a charismatic transfer student arrives, and for the first time Alex has someone to share his ambitions with, along with feelings he is only beginning to understand. Directed by Monty Wolfe, who also wrote the screenplay, and Ian Southworth, this offbeat, warm-hearted coming-of-age romantic comedy stars Parris Bates as Alex, with Adrienne Sparks and Daniel Q. Taylor. Shot in and around Portland, The Exploding Boy is a sweet, funny story about creativity, first love and finding the courage to put on a show of your own.
