The Deal

The Deal is a pop-culture magazine show with a gay point of view. Hosted by Brooke Barnett and Brian Vines and directed by Michael Dubin, the series rounds up the latest in movies, television, music, fashion and celebrity news, with an eye toward what gay and lesbian viewers want to know. Each episode mixes interviews and reviews with lighter features, keeping the tone breezy and conversational as the hosts weigh in on what is worth watching, hearing and wearing. Lively and good-humored, the series reflects a period when a growing audience was looking for entertainment coverage that spoke directly to them. Seen today, it doubles as an entertaining time capsule of the trends, stars and conversations of its moment, delivered with wit and plenty of opinion.
