Stories from the Heart: Ty Herndon

Country singer Ty Herndon has charted seventeen singles on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, three of them number ones, and has been nominated for a Grammy and won a Dove Award. Since coming out publicly in 2014, he has also become one of country music's best-known openly gay artists. In this half-hour Here TV special, directed by John Mongiardo and first released for Valentine's Day 2020, Herndon opens up about the love behind his music and the moments that inspired his best-known songs. At the heart of the conversation is What Mattered Most, his debut single, which he re-recorded in 2019 for Pride Month, changing the lyrics' pronouns, as a gift to the gay and lesbian community. Candid and warm, the special touches on faith, romance and his journey toward self-acceptance, offered in the words of an artist who believes learning to love yourself is the greatest gift of all.
