Private Photos

Rafa and Matheus are a close, comfortable couple in Brazil who have decided to invite a third man into their apartment for the night. The evening arrives with a rush of excitement and more than a little awkwardness, as the newcomer's presence shakes up the rhythms the two of them have built together. Over the course of the night, the film watches the couple sort through curiosity, jealousy and the small discoveries partners make about each other when someone new is in the room. Directed by Marcelo Grabowsky, who wrote the script with Aline Portugal and Manoela Sawitzki, this 20-minute Portuguese-language drama features Lucas Galvino, Vinicius Neri and Antonio Miano. Candid but restrained, Private Photos keeps its attention on feeling rather than spectacle, and on what a single night can reveal about trust and togetherness.
