PD

In PD, a cruising spot in the woods takes on an almost mythic scale. Antony Hickling's short French film watches men move among the trees, their bodies framed and lit with the grandeur of classical Greek sculpture, so that a place usually associated with secrecy becomes something closer to a stage for ritual and display. There is no conventional plot to follow; gesture, gaze and landscape carry the film across its seven minutes. Biño Sauitzvy leads a cast that also includes Arthur Gillet, Sothean Nhieim, Matthew Allen and Joel Ssepuya. Written, produced and directed by Hickling, PD is a brief, striking piece about male beauty and desire, and an invitation to see a familiar setting through the eyes of an artist.
