Out West

Prissy Alcott (Jennifer Elise Cox) lives the glittering life of a Reno socialite, so the news from home lands hard: her parents, Phillip (Ray Wise) and Tiffany (Beth Grant), have run out of money and are putting the family's Colorado ranch up for sale. Prissy hurries back to save it, and she does not come alone — three of her gay best friends ride along as her rescue squad. Together they hatch a plan to reinvent the old spread as a dude ranch, a bold idea that soon runs into small-town doubts, the hard work of ranch life and Cal Calhoun (Sean Astin). Daniel Baldwin plays Gordo in this 2013 comedy directed by Lee Brownstein, who wrote the script with Kevin Birnbaum. Part fish-out-of-water caper and part family story, Out West finds its fun in big-city style meeting wide-open country, and its heart in the friends who show up when it counts.
