One Like Him

For twenty years Karim has carried the truth about a single moment that changed his life and the life of Ramzi, the boy he grew up with and the first person he ever loved. Now he is determined to tell Ramzi what really happened, but finding the words is harder than he imagined, and as the two men talk, their conversation drifts into stranger and more surreal territory, as if memory itself were reshaping the room. Directed by Caitlin McLeod, who co-wrote the script with Tareq Baconi, this 16-minute Arabic-language short from Jordan stars Kais Nashif and Loai Noufi. Intimate and quietly haunting, it is a story about first love, guilt and the silences that can shape two lives, and about the courage it takes to finally speak honestly about the past to the one person who shared it.
