Nicola
Nicola is an Argentinian baker who has made his home in Samaipata, a small town in Bolivia. Divorced, he still lives with his former wife and their three children, an arrangement that keeps the family together under one roof. At a turning point in his life, he decides it is time to accept who he is and tell his family and friends that he is gay. Directed by Pablo Terrazas, this 70-minute Bolivian documentary follows Nicolas Escola as he works through that decision and its consequences, at home and in the community that knows him. Observant and affectionate, the film is a portrait of a man choosing honesty later in life, and of a family and a small town finding out how they will respond. Nicola is a gentle, personal story about courage, belonging and the ties that hold a household together.
