Liquid Love

K is an unusual young woman with a theory she takes completely seriously: the right pheromones can change the way two people feel about each other. Determined to test it, she mixes a perfume of her own design, hoping its scent will win over Sean, the boy she has fallen for. Her experiment seems to pay off, and the two begin spending more time together, yet as they draw closer K realizes that the real obstacle between them is not something chemistry can solve. Directed by Vivian Chuang from a script by Chih-Wei Chuang, this 25-minute short from Taiwan stars K-Chiu Se Chin and Sean-Yang Young Wei. Equal parts romance and gentle drama, it treats its quirky, almost scientific premise with affection while asking a tender question about whether attraction can be engineered, or whether some feelings simply cannot be made to happen.
