Let Your Braids Down, Rapunzel
Two friends, Telma and Luísa, set out to film a videodance, and in this playful Brazilian short the process of making it becomes the story itself. As the two friends plan, rehearse and film their piece, the fairy tale named in the title, about a girl locked away in a tower who lets down her hair, hovers over the project. Written, directed and produced by Matheus da Rocha Pereira, the film stars Eduardo Gomes, Arthur Tardioli and Lia Lordelo and approaches performance, dance and identity with a light, inventive touch. Running about fifteen minutes, Let Your Braids Down, Rapunzel is a Portuguese-language comedy about friendship, creativity and the freedom to express yourself on your own terms.
