Deep in the Brazilian Amazon, a young gay man shares a secluded home with only his pet for company. His days follow a gentle rhythm: he makes tea, plays music and enjoys a quiet, solitary life surrounded by the forest. But solitude does not make desire disappear, and when it stirs, he has to decide what to do about it. Directed by Rafa Maciel, this seven-minute Brazilian short stars Diogo Bohry and Pedro Midas and approaches its subject with unhurried sensuality, letting the sounds of the jungle and the textures of daily routine speak as loudly as any dialogue. John is a small, intimate meditation on loneliness, longing and the body, and on how the need for connection finds its way into even the most isolated of lives.
