Jamaal: Love Coded

Jamaal: Love Coded is a science-fiction anthology series about gay men, dating and the humanoid robots that have entered their love lives. Each standalone episode imagines a different corner of a near future shaped by technology, from dating apps and AI matchmaking to a televised dating show and lifelike companions engineered to order, and asks what people really want from love when a machine might supply it. Created by Philip Johnson, who directs with Taariq Muhammad, the series grew out of Johnson's 2024 short film Jamaal and was developed by his company Philaye Films with Here TV. The first season's four episodes center on Black gay characters and feature Matt Jennings as Jamaal, along with Philip Johnson, Greg Mathis Jr., John Knight, Casey Daley, Tiaramy Maloy, J'Lamar Nichols and Antoine Tate. Romantic, suspenseful and sometimes unsettling, it is a fresh take on love in the age of artificial intelligence.
