It's a Match!

A young woman swipes right on a dating app and gets a promising match. The conversation starts out light and flirtatious, the way these chats usually do, but before long it becomes clear that the man on the other end is not quite the stranger he seems, and he knows far more about her than any profile could reveal. Directed by Cyril Cagnat, this French short stars Robyn Wolf, Pablo Pauly and Mathilde Ripley and turns the everyday ritual of online dating into a tense thriller. Running about fifteen minutes, it plays on modern anxieties about privacy, trust and how much of ourselves we give away with every message we send. Sharp and suspenseful, It's a Match! is a cautionary tale for the age of the smartphone, where danger can arrive with the glow of a new notification.
