I Love You Where the Sunny Days Are

Mati leaves her home country to join her girlfriend Julia, who now lives in a distant, cold place far from everything familiar. Their reunion should feel like a homecoming, yet both women find themselves adrift. Far from the warmth, language and people that shaped them, they struggle to recognize who they have become, and returning home no longer seems possible. Directed by Yasmin Guimarães and starring Mônica Maria and Maria Leite, this Brazilian short explores love under the strain of displacement, as two women ask whether they can find a sense of home in each other when everything else has been left behind. Running about nineteen minutes, I Love You Where the Sunny Days Are is a quiet, melancholy romance about identity, distance and the longing for a warmer place.
