I Am That I Am
This short documentary is a portrait of intimacy, told by the people who live it. Director Audrey Mascina brings together couples and individuals with different sexual identities, histories and hopes, all of whom have set aside the fear of being judged and come to see sex as a way of connecting with others and discovering themselves. Filmed in Barcelona over two days, the film blends 16mm footage with digital cinematography for a grainy, richly colored look, and lets its subjects speak openly about desire, pleasure and self-knowledge. Running just seven minutes and produced by Andres Gomez, it treats sexuality as a form of personal expression rather than spectacle, and Mascina has described it as a starting point for a longer exploration of the subject. Frank, gentle and free of judgment, it is an invitation to listen.
