Here Family

Here Family is a documentary series about raising children within the gay and lesbian community. Hosted by Michelle Darné and directed by Daniel Loewenthal, it takes a realistic, practical look at the many ways same-sex couples build their families, covering surrogacy, in vitro fertilization and adoption, along with topics such as non-traditional breastfeeding and domestic partnership. Alongside stories from parents, episodes include interviews with well-known guests and down-to-earth advice, including tips for saving money as a household grows. First airing on Here TV in the mid-2000s, the three half-hour episodes offer a warm, informative portrait of gay and lesbian parenthood and of the everyday questions that come with it, from the first decisions about how to start a family to the realities of raising children once they arrive.
