Headbutt

Fifteen-year-old Tobias (Felix Osinga) still looks up to his older brother Lucas (Nils Verkooijen), but Lucas has drifted away and no longer seems interested in him at all. Tobias wants back the closeness they once shared, and he keeps trying, in his own clumsy and sometimes reckless ways, to win his brother's attention. Written and directed by Daan Bunnik and produced by Fleur Knopperts and Denis Vaslin, this ten-minute Dutch short observes the push and pull between two brothers with a sharp eye for the unspoken longing beneath ordinary teenage friction. Headbutt is a compact, carefully observed drama about adolescence, sibling bonds and the hard realization that the people we love can change, and about how far a younger brother will go to be seen again.
