Filius

Cristo (Raúl Zuluaga) earns his living working at the market, but in his spare hours he takes jobs as a hired killer. For a long time he has kept the two halves of his life apart. Now he has one more body to get rid of, his newest victim and the one he intends to be his last, and as he carries out the grim task, his whole life comes racing back at him with a force he cannot outrun. Written and directed by Juan Pablo Ríos, this 20-minute Colombian short in Spanish pairs the tension of a crime story with an inward look at a man forced to face what his choices have made of him. Deisy Johana Olarte co-stars. Spare and intimate, the film keeps its focus tightly on Cristo as a single errand turns into a reckoning with everything that came before it. Its title is the Latin word for son.
