Fake It
Zohar (Naama Chetrit) is a photographer with an exhibition coming up and not enough pictures to hang. Her solution is to call Ella (Dafi Alpern), her ex-girlfriend, and ask her to restage moments from their time together so she can capture them on camera. The two women step back into scenes from a relationship that has already ended, and as each shot is set up and taken, the question of what is staged and what is still real becomes harder and harder to answer. Directed by Tzurit Hartzion, who co-wrote the script with Veronica Kedar, this 23-minute Israeli short in Hebrew is an intimate two-hander about memory, art and the feelings that linger after a breakup. With the camera itself at the center of the story, Fake It turns a simple photo session into a quietly charged reunion between two women who know each other far too well.
