Edgar Allan Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum

Seven students arrive at a remote institute to take part in an unusual experiment that promises to eliminate pain altogether. Their enigmatic host relies on hypnosis and an assortment of antique devices to test how far the mind can push the body. As the volunteers settle into their sessions, one of them disappears, then another, and the true purpose of the research begins to come to light. Directed by David DeCoteau from a screenplay by Simon Savory, Edgar Allan Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum loosely reworks Poe's classic story into a moody, modern chiller. Amy Paffrath, Andrew Bowen, Greg Sestero and Tom Sandoval lead the young cast. Mixing suspense, dark atmosphere and a growing sense of dread, it is a horror tale about trust, control and what people will endure in the name of discovery.
