Brother

Tony, a young immigrant building a new life in the United States, is about to marry Carlos, and he makes a hopeful choice: he asks his conservative older sister to be at the wedding. The invitation is meant as an olive branch, but it stirs up years of distance and unspoken disapproval, and as the day approaches Tony has to decide which matters more, the family he was born into or the family he has made for himself. Directed by Aleksei Borovikov, who co-wrote the script with Jacob Mueller, Brother is an eighteen-minute drama starring Anton Paraskiva, Evgeniia Tikhonova, Felipe Augusto and Beatriz Jamaica. The film won Best Short Film at the PRIDE Queer Film Festival, Best International Short Film at Out & Loud Pune International Queer Film Festival, Best Student Film at Boomtown Film and Music Festival, Audience Favorite Narrative at Reality Bytes and a Silver Telly, and was nominated at the Burbank International and KASHISH Mumbai festivals.
