Birch & Co

After nearly a decade as executive director of the Human Rights Campaign, attorney and activist Elizabeth Birch moved into the interviewer's chair with Birch & Co, a talk series made for Here TV. The format is simple and unhurried: one-on-one conversations with prominent figures from politics, activism and entertainment, aimed at real understanding rather than point-scoring. Her guests came from across the political spectrum, including Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean, who discussed what his party was doing to support the gay and lesbian community in its push for civil rights, as well as conservative commentator Pat Buchanan, Congressman John Lewis and Rosie O'Donnell. Directed by Michael Eldridge, the series offers a window onto the mid-2000s debate over equality through the eyes of one of its most experienced advocates.
