Before You Go

Best friends Daniel and Franco head into the Patagonian wilderness for a camping trip together. When their supplies tumble over a cliff, the two have no choice but to take shelter in an empty cabin and wait for a way out. Stranded with little to do but talk, they drift toward feelings neither has ever put into words, and the easy rhythm of their friendship gives way to something charged and uncertain. Before they leave the cabin, the truth between them will have to come out. Directed by Vicente del Río Laya, who co-wrote the script with Hans von Marées Peede, this fourteen-minute Chilean short stars Joaquín Batarce and Nícola Vilander. It is a bittersweet coming-of-age story about the feelings that surface just when the people we care about are about to slip away, set against the vast, quiet landscape of the far south.
