Filmmaker Keren Aronoff turns her camera on New York City's creative underground in this documentary series, following artists, performers and nightlife personalities as they go about lives that are anything but ordinary. Rapper Cazwell, nightlife star Amanda Lepore, Bill Coleman and Marco Ovando are among the personalities who open up their worlds, offering a close look at how members of the city's gay arts scene live, work and perform. Produced in 2012 and presented in hour-long episodes, the series captures a particular moment in New York's downtown culture with candor and affection, treating its subjects' vibrant lives as both spectacle and hard work. It is a portrait of artists who have built their careers on being exactly who they are.
