Amias

Caught between two people he cares for, a young man named Amias struggles to understand his own desire and to accept what it means. Written and directed by John Giordano, this short psychological drama blurs the line between reality, fantasy and longing, leaving its hero — and the audience — unsure of what is truly happening and what is only imagined. Joren Seldeslachts stars as Amias, with Celine Verbeeck as Nina and Marco Bellusci as Ariel, the two people who pull him in different directions. The film uses a compact, dreamlike style to explore confusion, attraction and self-discovery, and the inner conflict that comes with feelings a young person is not yet ready to name. A brief, atmospheric portrait of a young man standing at the edge of understanding who he really is, and of the courage it takes to look honestly at what he wants.
